January 1st has launched new speculation at changes with the Disney Dining Plans. People are noticing that entitlements are listed in the app differently this morning and it’s causing quite a stir! Rather than speculate, let’s talk through what we know vs. what we don’t yet have confirmation on.
The Quick Service dining credits now appear split into adult meals and child meals
Previously Quick Service credits were all listed as one pool of credits. They did not differentiate in the My Disney Experience app between adults or child credits. This has long been a loophole allowing the credits to be used for either adult OR child sized meals.
As of today, My Disney Experience now shows two sets of Quick Service Credits. Those for adults and those for children.
What does this mean for how they are used? At this point we don’t know. It will likely take a few days to see this in action across property to see how or if it’s being enforced.
The Deluxe Dining credits now appear split into adult meals and child meals
Much like the Quick Service credits, these have always appeared in a single pool. Today, they are split in My Disney Experience between Adult and Child credits.
Again, we don’t know how this plays out in the restaurants themselves.
What happens now?
We wait and see what happens in the various locations around property over the next few days. They could be closing the loophole or it could simply be a change within My Disney Experience to help the end user better understand their entitlements. For now, we wait.
Family Traveling Tips is following the situation closely and we will continue to provide information as we can confirm changes. Please see the subscribe option in the sidebar to the right of this post to be sure you have priority access to our updates!
