There have been some questions about the Pirates and Pals Fireworks Voyage so I wanted to post about it. First our experience was a little different because it was in the 30s that evening and the staff had said it was too cold to have the Pirates do their actual “show” on the boat. They gave us the option to either view fireworks from the Contemporary at 50% off or go on the boat. We chose the boat to view fireworks.
Prior to entering they give you a scavenger hunt to complete. Everyone gets a bandana and upon completion they give the children a prize.
First we went in and met Captain Hook and Mr. Schmee. The character interaction we had I would say tops any we have had at Disney thus far. They let everyone meet them and you can also eat the desserts and treats provided. Don’t be afraid to take snack, this thing cost a chunk of money, so you deserve it
The pirates that are normally on the boat did their whole show inside. It was cute and funny. Lots of interaction with the children and each child gets some sort of souvenir.
We did the boat ride and the fireworks view were great. While you could see the projections on the castle they were small so if you have never seen them you may not know what they actually are. They play the music on the boat that goes along with the projections and fireworks show on the boat.
When you get off the boat typically Peter Pan would be on the dock greeting everyone as a surprise for the children. However due to weather, he was in the room where we started. The character interaction was again fantastic.
To sum it up, yes, I would recommend this experience. It is not essential to experiencing Disney but I do feel it is a nice extra.
The event starts 1 hour and 15 minutes prior to that night’s fireworks and they ask that you arrive at least 10 min. before the event begins.
