Happy Birthday Epcot! Since premiering on October 1st, 1982 Epcot has been the grounds for change and innovation. Today as you look around the park you will change happening on a grand scale at the foot of park icon, Spaceship Earth. As Walt Disney Imagineering makes space for new experiences, we will get a couple of limited time offerings to ease the growing pains.
Walt Disney Imagineering presents the Epcot Experience opens today in the Odyssey Events Pavilion (located between Test Track and the Mexico pavilion). An engaging and immersive experience, it is the first in-depth look at the historic transformation underway across the park. Disney Parks Blog states: “The Epcot Experience will blend cutting-edge technology and fun, personal moments to create an environment that honors everything you love about the park.”
Surrounded yourself with a seamless, 360-degree, floor-to-ceiling screen showing a continuous 12-minute film with vignettes of the changes coming to the park. Throughout the presentation, a three-dimensional model in the center of the room changes in time with the film and utilizes projection-mapping technology to highlight different areas of the park.
The Epcot Experience also contains new dimensional photo opportunities – including a scene where you can stand atop the Spaceship Earth geosphere! Historical artifacts and attraction posters from throughout the park’s history are also on display. Don’t miss this opportunity to view Epcot in a whole new light!
The long anticipated debut of ‘Epcot Forever’ a nighttime spectacular will take place tonight.
Here, the Epcot story is told alongside a grand orchestral soundtrack. Noted conductor and composer Don Harper has produced new arrangements of classic Epcot tunes threaded throughout the show. It features stirring renditions of music from the park’s history that are sure to inspire fond memories, such as “One Little Spark” and the theme from the “Tapestry of Nations” parade.
Disney Parks Blog will live stream the premiere at 8:50 p.m. EDT. “Epcot Forever” is scheduled to perform into 2020, leading up to the premiere of the new permanent show, “HarmonioUS.”
Don’t forget, it’s also prime time for visiting the Epcot Food & Wine Festival. So much to see and do at Epcot during this transitional time!
